At least 4 policemen dead in Bali Nyonga separatist attack

At least four policemen have reportedly been shot dead in Bali Nyonga, Mezam, a division in the North West region of Cameroon.

They were victims of a separatist attack that also left a car used by the police squad destroyed at a place called T Junction.

Locals say the incident happened this morning while the security officers were on patrol.

Corroborating reports note that after an Improvised Explosive Device went off leaving the car shattered, the members of the non state armed group carried out their act, carting away the security officers’ equipment. These included helmets, guns and even their ID cards.

Administrative authorities however are yet to confirm or deny the attack, as well as the casualties incurred.

The said attack counts as one of multiple recorded in different parts of the North West and South West regions for close to five years as security forces combat separatist fighters.

Last week, in a similar act, a makeshift military camo was set ablaze in the same Bali Nyonga.

With both warring entities failing to come to a compromise, hundreds of thousands of civilians have been victims, with thousands killed and many more displaced.
