President Biya should no longer be welcomed in Geneva – Swiss MP

In the wake of unrest caused by Cameroonians in Switzerland in a bid to render Paul Biya’s days in the country miserable, Stephanie Prezioso, a Swiss Member of Parliament has asked that President Biya not be entertained in Geneva anymore.

“The Cameroonian President should no longer be welcomed in Geneva. We are talking about someone who has been in power for more than 50 years… we are taking about thousands of deaths, hundreds of thousands of displaced persons…we are talking of someone who is accused of war crimes… Switzerland harbouring him is protecting a dictator” she stated.

The unprecedented demonstrations in the Swiss capital was organised by Cameroonian Pressure group, Anti-Sardinard Brigade (BAS) to chase away President Paul Biya from Geneva.

Cameroonians in the diaspora argue that Biya has no right to take a vacation to Europe after plunging the country into series of crisis back in the country.

The demonstrations which began with peaceful chants around the famous interContinental Hotel where President Biya usually lodges, soon turned chaotic, with anti-riot police using teargas and water cannons to disperse the protesters.

At least two protesters were injured during the demonstrations in Geneva.
