Seperatists fighters in Bambui, Mile 11 – North West region have used a truck transporting fuel to the Mbingo Baptist Hospital to block the road, obstructing circulation.
More than a hundred cars have since been trapped along the highway.
The fighters, locals say, have also collected car documents, phones and personal belongings, keeping passengers and drivers in captivity.
The separatists, sources say, are demanding the release of some 8 drivers arrested by the military in Bambui days before.
In addition to obstructing those heading to hospitals for health care, those already admitted to the facilities it is feared, might run out of medication and supplies.
In Njinikom, business people who went to buy foodstuff to sell in Bamenda this weekend have also been stranded.
Road blockage by separatist fighters in the North West region is fast-becoming a new normal. They have often used the blockages and kidnap of passengers as tools for leverage with government.
