Anglophones living in Dschang in the West region say they are still not sure of their security as the February 9 twin election approaches.
About 20 English Speaking bike riders were reportedly arrested days back and some are still being held. Their motorbikes were also confiscated.
Access to the detainees, most of whom are from the Lebialem division, friends and family say, also remains a challenge.
“One sergeant said we should go that where they are we can’t see them.. . if he is not guilty he will be liberated,” says a friend to one of the arrested.
Prior to Sunday’s elections, several arrests have also been made in the restive Anglophone regions with no explanation given for the action.
Ambazonian fighters have called for a lockdown to ensure the elections don’t hold, leaving fears of clashes.
