Annie EmpowerWear steals the show at African Heritage Fashion Week in Cameroon

Buea, Cameroon – April 2023 – Annie EmpowerWear, a prominent figure in the Cameroonian fashion industry, captivated the audience at the recent African Heritage Fashion Week (AHFWeek) in Buea. The event, now in its third year, is a vibrant showcase of African culture and fashion, uniting numerous designers and fashion enthusiasts from across the Central African nation.

Matene Annie Chancelle, the talented founder of Annie EmpowerWear, showcased her stunning Spring collection at the well-attended event. “It’s an honour to be among such incredible minds in the industry,” Annie shared with reporters. The encouragement I’ve received for my work has been immense and truly motivating. It inspires us to continue moving ahead.

Nuvi Creative, the driving force behind AHFWeek, expressed their goal of empowering more than 100 fashion designers by granting them access to sewing machines, all the while showcasing Cameroonian culture and fabric to an international audience. He continued, “Our goal is to offer a dynamic platform for fashion talents like Annie EmpowerWear, Grace Designs, and Shasha Designs, along with others from across Africa, to showcase their creativity, amplify their voices, and make a real difference in their communities.”

Annie shared her optimism for future events similar to AHFWeek, which would offer chances to develop and present new collections. She eagerly anticipated the upcoming fashion week. “My designs aim to reflect all genders, ethnicities, and cultures, and events like these offer the ideal stage for that.” I am deeply thankful to Nuvi, the Africa Heritage Fashion Week team, and the GIVING BACK FOUNDATION (our partner organisation) for bringing this amazing initiative to life.
