Outspoken French Member of Parliament, Sebastien Nadot has lauded his government for it’s recent condemnation of violence in Cameroon’s minority English speaking regions.
In a letter addressed to president, Emmanuel Macron and other top French diplomats, he recalls that the Sunday kings in Mautu, South West region of Cameroon add to earlier massacres including those of Kumba and Ngarbuh.
He lauds the immediate condemnation of the killings by France, but says more should be done.
France, he notes, should not ignore a bipartisan resolution adopted earlier this year by the US Senate. The resolution called on “… The government of Cameroon and separatist armed groups from the English speaking North West and South West regions to end all violence…”.
To Sebastien Nadot, the shared history between both states, “… demands a strong, sincere and effective gesture from our country to calm down violence and help institute of the rule of law in Cameroon”.
