Artist Mbonjem Lesley aka Fhish has been laid to rest, but the situation of his fans and loved ones continues to get worse.
A fellow colleague artist is currently in hospital after nearly losing his life while returning from Fhish’s burial in Awing in Mezam Division, North West region.
The said artist with stage name, Sassie Rapz was one of the hundreds that trooped to Awing to bury Fhish. En route to Awing, multitudes passed through a police control post at Akum without any issues with the security officers on duty.
It was on the return that things got salty.
“When they were returning, a police officer opened fire on them. He shot him on the leg, causing all others to stop,” a source narrates.
Having injured Sassie on the foot and destroyed the tire of the bike transporting him, the source says the security officer didn’t end there.
“He used the bottom of his gun to hit the artist on the head. It was when he started crying he couldn’t see that the officer stopped. His eye had been burst,” he went on.
The same source says “… the ambulance that carried Fhish’s corpse to Awing is the same one that took the artist to the hospital.”
The young victim has remained in hospital where he is receiving medical care. In a short message on his Facebook page, Sassie called on well-wishers to commit him in their prayers, as he nurses his eye and leg injuries.
The identity of the officer who carried out the act remains unknown, and it is uncertain if any disciplinary action has been taken against him.
