As Dialogue Mooted:
Countries, Organisations Reacting Differently To Russia-Ukraine War

In the face of a mooted dialogue, countries across the globe have continued to react differently to the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Both nations are reported to have agreed to dialogue in Belarus, but Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he does not believe in the results of the meeting.

The United Nations, UN has in the meantime said nearly 400,000 people already displaced as refugees in neighboring countries. It estimates the figure could touch 4 million.


Despite the situation, more sanctions continue to be imposed on Moscow.

The European Leader, EU on its part decided to shut its airspace to Russian airlines and to henceforth supply nations who are under attack with weapons
Key Russian banks also banned from doing any international transactions, among them the Moscow Central Bank which has 600 billion US Dollars in reserves.


In retaliation, Putin has reactivated Russia’s nuclear weapons, saying it’s because of the devastating sanctions levied on Russia’s economy.


Russia has 4,500 nuclear war heads, which is the world’s largest.

Militarily weakened

Germany realizes it has been “sleeping” for 30 years. Its Chancellor Olaf Scholz says Berlin will invest 2% of its GDP yearly (112 billion Dollars) to boost defence, and Germany will diversify its energy sources as it has heavily relied on Russia in the past years for gas.


In another development, thousands of Ukrainian men have taken up arms determining to defend their country.

Boosted by the West, President Zelenskyy rejects Russia’s call for Ukraine to surrender.

There have also been anti-war protests across Europe; from Paris, to London, to Rome, people are standing in solidarity with Ukraine, many of them afraid the war could extend to other European countries.

At the UN Security Council, UNSC, on Saturday, Russia nullified a resolution tabled to condemn its attack on Ukraine. China abstained from the vote; saying Russia has legitimate concerns about the Eastward expansion of NATO.

India and the United Arab Emirates, UAE also abstained while three African countries, including Ghana, Kenya and Gabon joined Western powers to condemn Russia at the UNSC.
