Multiple reports and footage have been shared on social media showing racial discrimination at the Ukraine-Poland border.
Africans seeking a way out of the war-hit country have been blocked at the Polish borders, with preference given to white Ukrainian citizens only.
African foreigners have also been dragged off from trains heading out of the country, and some threatened to be shot by border police.
African students moreover have also remained stuck at the borders for close to three days now. The message to them has been made clear, “The white Ukrainian citizens remain the priority.”
Nevertheless, some African States have started taking action to evacuate their citizens out of Ukraine.
Ghana and Nigeria among others have started taking steps towards evacuating their people from the conflict zone.
