At 24, Tatah Carine wins Mount Cameroon Race the fifth time

By Tata Mbunwe

Tatah Carine Wyisenyuy won her first 10 million francs at the Mount Cameroon Race in 2018, when she was still 19 years old.

Now at the age of 24, she has won 10 million francs for the fifth time after winning in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.

She told journalists yesterday her victory has been thanks to training and determination. She said she wants to break the record set by seven-time winner, Sarah Liengu Etonge, who earned the title queen of the mountain.

Carine won the race yesterday at 5hrs’ 18mins’ 45 secs’, far ahead of second place winner Kitan Mildred, who arrived at 5hrs’ 27mins’ 17secs.

She was among 72 women who ran in the Senior Women category of the Mount Cameroon Race.

At 24, Tatah Carine has become both a star and a millionaire due to her untamed athletic talent.

She was not however the youngest athlete in the Senior Women category of the race, as several others were younger than her.
