Atleast six persons dead after truck crushes vehicle along Buea-Kumba road

Six people have died on the Buea-Kumba stretch in the South West Region, after a vehicle transporting them was brutally crushed by a truck.

An eyewitness told MMI that the smoke from the burning of remains by the hygiene and sanitation company (HYSACAM) obscured the view of the truck driver, thereby leading to the tragic incident.

“Intense smoke that circulated the air as the HYSACAM company decided to burn their garbage… The truck in an attempt to find its way out of the blurry passage landed its tires on a Carina vehicle leaving some persons dead on the spot,” our source added.

The accident took place in the afternoon of Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

Several persons were equally injured in the ghastly accident.

Circulation was brought to a standstill along the stretch as a result of the tragic incident.

The vehicles which paralysed the road were forced to wait for over three hours before movements could resume.

The remain of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary while the injured were rushed to a nearby health facility for immediate medical attention.
