Anyajua village, Belo sub division Boyo division in the North West region of Cameroon remains deserted Sunday August 30th 2020. Most of the villagers are still in the bushes seeking safety.
One of the villagers speaking to a reporter in Bamenda says “we fled to the bush yesterday when we got news that military men were coming to the village to attack separatist fighters. We learn several houses have been set ablaze and some old people beaten and wounded “
To the villagers, military attacks in the village lasted for over five hours. They accuse the military of burning houses and brutalising those they met in the village.
Cameroon’s ministry of defense has not issued an official statement following the accusations of the villagers, but has often claimed its soldiers act professionally, discarding such accusations.
Anyajua village is said to be a hide for boys fighting for the restoration of Southern Cameroon or Ambazonia.
Following statements posted on social media by sympathisers of Ambazonia, soldiers are setting ablaze houses in villages while government is propagating the reconstruction of the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
