Authorities seal Herve Bopda’s residence

On Monday morning, social media platforms were inundated with images and videos portraying a significant presence of gendarmes surrounding the alleged sexual predator Herve Bopda’s family home in Bonapriso. Sources suggest that Bopda fled as gendarmes arrived, yet his apartment has been placed under seal.

This follows persistent public demands for the immediate arrest of Bopda, as over 100 victims have come forward accusing him of heinous crimes including rape, sodomy, and kidnapping.

According to reports, Bopda’s landlady sealed off his apartment, and she clarified that she did so in order to protect her other tenants. Since the onset of the controversy, occupants of the building have expressed feeling unsafe, particularly due to the constant military presence. There are threats from tenants to vacate the premises if Bopda continues to occupy his apartment.

Since the scandal gained public attention, several Cameroonians, both within and outside the country, have been clamouring for justice and urging government intervention.

This is not the first time that law enforcement has surrounded Bopda’s family home. On Thursday, January 25, 2024, a special deployment was made to one of his family homes at Shell New-Bell, where he sought refuge. Over 10 police and gendarme vehicles were present, and after questioning the occupants, the police departed.

Despite the scandal, Bopda has been spotted in public several times, continuing to roam the streets.

The story is still unfolding.
