Babadjou elites donate four motorcycles to vigilante groups to prevent armed Separatist incursions

Elites of Babadjou, located in the West Region of Cameroon, provided vigilante groups with four motorcycles on Thursday, July 14.

The action of the local elites is said to be aimed at reinforcing the deployment of these security auxiliaries, in order to thwart any possible incursion by armed separatist groups.

According to the elites, this move ensures that the vigilante groups of Babadjou can now better act as scouts, covering the length and breadth of their locality.

The solemn handover of the bikes took place on the sidelines of a security meeting chaired by the Senior Divisional Officer of the Bamboutos Division, François Franqueline Etapa.

These brand new motorcycles, we learned, were acquired thanks to the contributions of the elites of Babadjou against incursions by armed separatist groups from the neighboring North West Region.

Their importance was also demonstrated on June 27, 2022, where according to several sources, the arrival of the separatist fighters had been reported by a vigilante group to the authorities, who immediately took steps to respond.

The conflict which has plagued Cameroon’s English-Speaking Regions has intermittently spilled over into the West Region, where attacks have been launched at security forces by armed separatists. Notable incidents are the attacks at Galim in March 2020 and Njitapon in June 2022.
