Back-to-School: Belo council prepares kids for school in Bamenda

Pupils and students from Belo subdivision in the Boyo Division say despite the crisis that has dealt a huge blow on their education since 2017, they are now committed more than ever before to pursue their education.

The pupils and students made the declaration Saturday, September 4, 2021, in Bamenda as they received didactic materials to assist them go back to school from the Belo council.

The students and pupils are committed in chasing their dreams.

“We sat at home thinking that schools will resume. But after two years, it didn’t resume. So, we decided to come to Bamenda since schools were going on”, one of the students said.

The didactic materials handed by the Belo council includes school bags containing books, pens, pencils, markset and a ruler.

Mayor Ngong Innocent of the Belo council says the move is intended to alleviate the plight of the students who have been out of school.

“We want to encourage them to go back to school. We know their circumstances are not the best. They are economically deprived of many amenities”, Mayor Ngong Innocent said.

Belo is a bedrock of separatist activities and the council authorities are determined to encourage all forms of education in the area.

Schools resumed across Cameroon this September 6, 2021.

Some 3,274 schools opened their doors to receive primary and secondary school students from across the country.
