Bafut: Military guns down one at separatists-imposed checkpoint

A separatist fighter has been killed in Njibujang in Bafut, a village in the restive North West Region of Cameroon. He was killed by elements of the Cameroon Military on Wednesday August 11, 2021.

Reports say, the soldiers set a trap for separatist fighters by making it to armed boys’ checkpoint before they arrived for their daily checks.

As they approached the checkpoint, the soldiers opened fire killing one and wounding some. The wounded was carried by his colleagues to an unknown destination.

It not clear if casualties were recorded on the side of the military.

Many separatist fighters have been killed at check points they had mounted, as well as soldiers.

The armed conflict has for five years today taken thousands of lives as government and separatists remain adamant about finding common ground.
