Parents and guardians of children who should have been in school are still uncertain about their fate in Bali.
Reports say no school in the area has opened its door for the current school year. This comes one month after separatist fighters in the area declared an indefinite ban on circulation in the area after Mezam SDO banned motor bikes in the subdivision.
The situation has also caused many to flee from the subdivision to other cities to have education or simply be free from gunshots.
The mayor of Bali, Ernest Wandum says the stalemate has watered down all efforts made to ensure a smooth back to school in his council area.
“I’m disappointed. It’s unfortunate that Bali, which is the cradle of education in the entire grassfiled, should be at the moment, the last in terms of school attendance. My people are worried and frightened. Separatist fighters have warned against school resumption via voice notes on WhatsApp,” the mayor said.
The Bali elite have been holding several conclaves to chart out ways in which normalcy can return to Bali and subsequently the resumption of schools.
