Bambui: Boy burnt to death for alleged phone theft

A young man has been beaten and burnt to death in Bambui, a locality close to Bamenda in the North West region of Cameroon.

He was caught by an irate crowd that accused him of often terrorizing locals – mostly students, making away with their phones, money, and other valuables.

Videos emerged on social media yesterday showing the boy being beaten by the crowd. He was beaten to near death and later set ablaze.

Security forces were unable to stop the irate crowd.

The latest incident comes at the close of the year, a period known to be characterized by an increase in theft and crime waves in general across the country.
