Quarter Head in Bambui
The lifeless body of Nchami Calistus, the Quarter Head of Atunibah, in Bambui, North West region, was discovered on Monday morning at CHS Junction after he had been kidnapped.
The community leader was reportedly kidnapped several days ago by separatist fighters. Sources say he was taken from his home near the Presbyterian Church area at Down CCAST.
That was not the first time the Quarter Head had been targeted. According to local residents, he had previously been kidnapped by the same group and was only released after a ransom was paid. However, this second kidnapping ended in tragedy as his body was found dumped on the street today.
The news of his death has sparked fear and outrage among the population. Residents of Bambui say they are living in constant danger as insecurity continues to rise.
Many are now calling for better protection, wondering who might be the next target in the ongoing wave of violence.
This incident adds to a series of incidents targeting civilians in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon, where armed conflict has been going on since 2017.
