Bamenda: Abandoned new-born baby dies

A corpse of a new-born baby was discovered by the roadside at Nitob IV Quarters (Behind Che) in Bamenda, Northwest region of Cameroon, on the morning hours of Sunday January 15, 2023.

MMI gathered that the baby was put to bed and taken to the roadside where it was abandoned.

“We don’t know if the child died as a result of the biting cold or it was the remains that were dumped there. This is really sad,” said Ngia, a resident of that area.

Eyewitnesses also confirmed to our reporters that the baby was taken for burial, as it was difficult to locate the mother or family members.

Many who were at the scene especially women could be heard raining curses on the perpetrator of what they described as “the worst form on human cruelty.”

Investigations have been opened with the aim of finding the culprit(s) and ensuring they face justice.
