An artist in the City of Bamenda, known as ‘Blizzy Dice’, has reportedly been arrested by the authorities on Tuesday, 25 March 2025. The musician, known for his burgeoning presence in the regional music scene, is now facing serious allegations involving drug possession and, more disturbingly, accusations of involvement in the deaths of several young people in the area.

Arrest and Drug Charges

Reports indicate that officers apprehended Blizzy Dice during a routine operation in Bamenda, North West Regional Headquarters of Cameroon. Authorities discovered a significant quantity of hard drugs in his possession during the arrest. Officials have not yet disclosed the nature and amount of the drugs.

Accusations of Involvement in Youth Deaths

The drug charges, however, represent only a portion of a much more serious array of accusations. Sources close to the investigation link Blizzy Dice to the recent, unexplained deaths of several youths in Bamenda. These allegations have ignited widespread fear and anger within the community, which has already been grappling with ongoing security concerns.

“It’s unbelievable,” said a resident who wished to remain anonymous. “He was an artist, someone we thought was part of our community. Now, to hear these things… it’s just devastating.”

Who Is Blizzy Dice?

Blizzy Dice, who describes himself as a “vibrant Cameroonian musician,” had been gaining local recognition for his unique blend of Afrobeat, Makossa, and modern pop. He emphasised his connection to Cameroonian culture and aimed to reflect the “socio-political landscape” of his homeland in his music.

“BlizzyDice’s lyrics reflect his personal experiences and the socio-political landscape of Cameroon, offering a profound connection to his roots,” his website reads.

His music videos, such as “Not Enough”, “Special Person”, and “Money Coming”, have a modest viewing on YouTube.

His music titles also reflect this blend, suggesting themes of love with “Special Person” and ambition with “Money Coming.” Additionally, a review of one of his videos shows lyrics like “I’m getting high” and “I’m getting TI,” which some might interpret as promoting drug use. The contrast between his stated artistic goals and his alleged actions has left many struggling to reconcile the two.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have yet to release a comprehensive statement. The police have also not confirmed the arrest and the drug charges. But this is hardly surprising, given that the police in Cameroon rarely provide information to the public.

There are some indications that this might have been done by the artist as some sort of publicity stunt. MMI has not been able to confirm this. However, given the dangers of drugs within Bamenda, such a stunt would be one warranting investigations from the authorities.

The case is further expected to unfold in the coming weeks, and MMI will continue to provide updates as they become available.
