The population of the North West region expects the government to factor in the Bamenda-Babadjou road into the presidential reconstruction plan.
The coordinator of the presidential plan for the reconstruction of the crisis-affected regions in Cameroon, Paul Tasong has mentioned that the construction of the North West and South West regions have evolved at a slow pace on accounts of the continuous violence and fighting in these two regions.
Paul Tasong has been grilled for close to eight hours in the National Assembly by members of Parliament.
One of the MPs suggested that the reconstruction should be fast-tracked in other areas where the displaced population has been relocated.
Since the visit of the Prime Minister to Bamenda and the promise of the construction of the road, the population has remained expectant. They now expect the road to be factored into the reconstruction plan.
Residents of the North West say the region’s development concerns have been compounded by the poor state of roads with the Bamenda-Babadjou top on the list.
Because of the nature of the road, economic operators find it very difficult to easily circulate between Bamenda and other parts of the region.
It should be noted that this is not the first time issues about this road have come under scrutiny but nothing is being done.
