He was also a former President General of the Nso Cultural and Development Association (NSODA). He passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday, January 18, 2025, in Bamenda.

A Life Dedicated to Service

Mfoomé Ndzerem Stephen Njodzeka, affectionately known as Mfoomé, is remembered as a man who lived a life of purpose and compassion. His contributions to the Nso community and beyond have left an indelible mark on many lives. Under his leadership, SHUMAS, a humanitarian organization dedicated to improving lives in underprivileged communities, became a beacon of hope for countless families.

In an official announcement, Shey Tadze Adamu Mbiydzæl, the current President General of NSODA, described Mfoomé as “a loving philanthropist, community developer, and strategic leader who touched many lives with his humanitarian services.” He continued, “The Executive Council of NSODA shares in the grief of the Nso community, the staff of SHUMAS, and the bereaved family. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”

Fond Memories of a Humble Leader

Mfoomé’s leadership extended beyond his immediate community. In a separate announcement, Declan Lola, leader of Kifu Ke Saamba Ke London, fondly recounted Mfoomé’s humility and dedication.

“He was humble, focused, and soft-spoken, always making time for everyone he met,” the announcement read. “Steve was a development pillar and one of Nso’s finest sons. Cameroon and Nso have lost one of their finest.”

Known for his global connections, Mfoomé was a frequent visitor to the UK, where he actively engaged with the Nso diaspora. He participated in community events and meetings, forming lasting friendships and inspiring others with his unwavering commitment to service.

“He was a regular visitor to the UK and a friend to many; he took delight in joining us in some of our meetings/events whenever he visited the UK,” Taa Lola said.
