The Arch bishop of the Bamenda Arch Diocese has called on the religious and the laity in the diocese to pray for the church in the Njinikom deanery after two incidents which he has described as sacrilegious have left the church spiritually mutilated.
In a circular released July 14th 2021, the Chancellor, Fr Derrick Che Cho reveals that on May 14th the perpetual Adoration capel of St Anthony’s parish Njinikom, the centenary parish chapel, a sacrilegious act was committed when the blessed sacrament was stolen.
On the 8th of July the same incident happened at Christ the king Parish in Fuli kom where the tabernacle was completely dug off the church wall and taken away.
According to the Diocesan chancellor, Christians and priests of Njinikom parish shoul offer serious reparation prayers to atone for such blasphemies and sacrileges.
Njinikom parish, centenary parish of the entire Bamenda diocese embraced Catholicism way back in 1927 with setting of the first parish in the diocese with arrival of the mill hill missionaries and for over a century of its existence, there has never been such an incident reported in the parish.
