Economic operators along the Bamenda Commercial Avenue business hub in the troubled Anglophone North West Region of Cameroon have been lamenting on President Biya’s 40th anniversary at the helm of the country’s activities, November 6, 2022.
All businesses along Commercial Avenue were prevented from opening their doors, transportation paralysed amongst others thereby bringing the economy of the town to its knees on Biya’s anniversary.
“I went to open my shop at Commercial Avenue but was forced at gun point to return home that today was Paul Biya’s 40th anniversary as president. I don’t know how and why Biya’s anniversary should prevent us from feeding ourselves and families,” Nestor, an economic operator told our reporters.
Internet was also down on the 5 and 6 of November 2022 with many believing that it was a delibrate act that was ordered by the Director General of Cameroon Post and Telecommunications, CAMTEL, Mrs Judith Yah Sunday for reasons best known to them.
