Bamenda: gun battles at Fru Ndi’s residence leave neighbors in fear

Neighbors of SDF chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi in Bamenda say the past days have been scary due to gun battles in the area.

Separatist fighters and soldiers, they say, have been at each others’ throats at the politician’s house leaving them vulnerable.

A source says “a bomb blast was heard inside the compound … Most of the neighbors confirm that there were gunshots there on Thursday as amba boys attacked.”

“This morning the fire brigade and army came there and tried to neutralise the bomb.”

“Most of the residents are afraid because the compound of Ni John Fru Ndi has been like a barrack for the army. Soldiers are living there. When the amba boys pass and fire at them the military would turn on those who are around and try to harass them,” he adds.

Ni John Fru Ndi who has been a victim of the war and was even kidnapped by separatist fighters is currently out of the country.

He has however denied allegations of him seeking asylum.
