Bamenda: Gunmen kill businessman, one other in less than 24 hours.

Atleast two persons have been killed in Bamenda, headquarters of the restive North West Region of Cameroon.

Both men were killed in two separate incidents on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023.

Reports say a business man whose name MMI got as Bosco was killed in Mobile Nkwen while an unidentified young man was killed and dropped at Behind Che neighbourhood.

Witnesses say Bosco who is a brewery merchant was shot while trying to resist being kidnapped in the evening of Tuesday January 17, 2023.

“They came for him at his store around Ghana Street entrance from mobile Nkwen, while being taken away on a bike, he started resisting and was shot and abandoned,” recounted our source.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby health facility where he was confirmed dead.

Another attack, another casualty

MMI’s reporter in Bamenda had gathered that a young man was also killed and dropped ‘Behind Che’ a neighborhood in Bamenda.

“He was killed in cold blood. He was brought Behind Che in Bamenda 2 on a bike and shot death,” a source revealed to MMI.

The identity of the young man has not been revealed.

Locals say the act was perpetrated by suspected armed separatists fighters.

It is not known why he was killed.

No Separatist faction has claimed responsibility of the acts recorded recently.

Killings and kidnappings have been on the rise in Bamenda recently — largely blamed on armed separatist fighters, defense and security forces and armed gangs.
