Many have not stopped thanking God after a truck transporting sand almost crushed pedestrians at the city chemist roundabout in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon.

The truck lost control causing two vehicles to have a head-on collision.

Some eyewitnesses say the situation was caused by policemen who wanted to extort money from the taxi driver.

The incident that occurred, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, has been the talk of the town as many are yet to understand how the truck driver managed to avoid hitting the hundreds of pedestrians that were around the area and the tens of vehicles in circulation.

According to eyewitness accounts, “The driver succeeded to control the vehicle right to the bridge at Sonac Street where it stopped thanks to the bumpy nature of the bridge.”

“It was a miracle. The driver should be applauded. He didn’t panic despite the number of persons and vehicles including motorbikes that were around the place,” an eyewitness told MMI.

No one, according to reports, was hurt.

“Thank God no one was hurt,” said the eyewitness

MMI gathered that two vehicles in an attempt to avoid the truck had a head-on collision, though not serious.
