A young man belonging to a gang of robbers has lost his life after a mob invaded their home and rendered jungle justice.
The incident took place early this morning in Mbelem, a quarter in Mile 6, Nkwen in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon.
According to sources, the three robbers were asleep when the mob stormed their house, asking them to open the door.
While one was able to escape from the hands of the angry mob, the two others were apprehended and battered by the population who succeeded in breaking the house door.
“These guys happened to be new in the quarter. Little did they know that Mbelem does not harbor thieves,” a source indicated.
According to sources, one of them was caught during a recent operation. It is therefore believed the apprehended robber disclosed their hideout to the angry mob, who in turn decided to take justice into their hands by invading the hideout.
“… they refused to open the door, the population now broke in and started beating them. One escaped, one was taken to the hospital and one is dead,” our source added.
It is reported that these robbers were equally involved in kidnappings after which they demanded huge amounts as ransom.
This, as a person among the population, was able to identify them as those who once kidnapped her.
One of the two robbers before dying made a series of confessions where he disclosed the identity of someone who happens to be their boss.
The corpse, after being abandoned at a Firewood junction, was later taken away by some of his family members.
Meanwhile, the other was rushed to the hospital due to the timely intervention of the forces of law and order. He is currently battling between life and death.
A good number of stolen items were discovered in their room. They include phones, laptops, and a bed stolen from a workshop in Bambui.
