There is still uncertainty in Bamenda, the chief town of the North West region after what is believed to have been a bomb blast over the weekend.
“We just heard a loud explosion from the Central police station at Old Town Bamenda and several gunshots afterwards” MMI is informed.
“It seems there were casualties as two private cars … carry what seems to be wounded people” a source explained.
“We have had no information as to what caused the explosion or the ensuing gunshots. Apparently, everything looks normal there now” the source explained further.
Reports of the explosion and gunshots at the Central police station are however yet to be confirmed by official sources.
The alleged incident comes weeks after a bomb went off during women’s day celebration in March, a feat said to have been carried out by separatist fighters in the region.
Days back, an artisanal bomb went off in the country’s political capital, Yaounde, injuring a number of persons.
Though security has been stepped up, the recent events have left citizens in more fear and uncertainty over what the coming days hold.
