Bamenda: Suspected bandit receives mob beating at Meta quarter

A presumed bandit identified as “Rude Guy” has cheated death after he was caught and beaten at Meta Quarter in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon. He was later set free, sources told MMI. The boy in his late twenties was caught at a place called “Behind Bamenda Main Market” in Meta quarter in the North West region of Cameroon Monday, September 7th, 2020.

According to a witness, “… he was moving around monitoring the area while his partner in crime was busy stealing sheets of zinc from a house.” Our source continues that, the presumed bandit monitoring the area to safe his colleague was caught, lynched, and forced to sit in a pool of dirty water along the street. He was later set free after promising not to repeat similar actions in future.

Inhabitants of the area say the presence of locals at home this Monday – a ghost town in Anglophone regions facilitated the apprehension of the bandit.

Reports say people in Bamenda are still excited following the killing of Fonteh Lucas alias General Mad Dog considered to be one of hardened criminals in the town.
