Seventy five makeshift sheds have been reduced to ashes at Mile 4 Nkwen Motor Park, Bamenda 3 sub division in the North West region of Cameroon.
The fire incident occurred at about 2 :00 am Tuesday February 9th 2021.
Visiting the scene, Simon Emile Mooh, Senior Divisional Officer of Mezam division accused dealers in illegal fuel in the park of being responsible for the fire incident.
This has however been contradicted by some traders in the park who are pointing accusing fingers on separatists for burning the commercial centre as a punitive action.
“Amba boys in the past have dropped tracks in this park threatening to attack if traders don’t respect Monday traditional ghost town. So, we are sure that the boys carried out the act” said a trader stated, talking on the basis of anonymity.
To others, ambazonian boys had earlier planted artisanal bombs around the park.
Traders say they have lost their sheds and the contents to the flames thereby rendering them helpless and without any source of living.
