Bamenda: unidentified lady abducted, tortured in shocking video

A shocking video believed to have been shot in the troubled North West region of Cameroon is making waves on social media.

A lady stripped naked is seen being tortured as unidentified individuals question her, over an alleged affair with a “uniformed officer”.

The lady who names herself as Emmanuela Lum says she is from Mankon in the North West region of Cameroon, one of the towns where soldiers have been stifling a secessionist movement for nearly four years now.

“They caught me because my boyfriend who is a military man came and dropped me…” Lum, apparently under duress says in tears.

She goes on to reveal that she is a trader. She sells opposite the Congress hall in Bamenda, Chief town of the North West region.

She is then forced by the soldiers speaking broken pidgin English and French, to ask other ladies to “stop dating military men”. The lady in the video is also accused of bringing the said military man for separatist fighters to kill, an accusation she reluctantly accepts.

“… It means you people are the ones that gave information to separatist fighters about soldiers…” a voice questioning her is heard saying.

Another shocking video shows the same victim (Lum), tired and soaked in mud as her abductors ask her more questions about her affair with the military man.

“… Say your last prayer…” The voice is later heard telling the lady.

After getting the said soldiers name as Arami, he goes ahead to send him a message: “…Arami, here is that your girlfriend, we will kill her this evening. Any girl in Bamenda who is dating or having sex with a military man, that is what will happen when separatist fighters get you. All of those girls at Rendezvous that have had sex with soldiers, we will get all of you…” He warns.

“… We give you all a week in Bamenda, we will kill you all … ” he threatens further.

While MMI cannot confirm the the position of the individuals in the said video, it notes that the lady’s abductors keep speaking in broken pidgin English and at other times, the French language.

This is not the first time ladies are being abducted or tortured for having links with soldiers in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon. Weeks back, a lady was beheaded by men believed to be separatist fighters for allegedly having an affair with a member of the forces of law and order.

The position of the individuals concerned in the latest incident however remains unclear.
