Njinikom: locals worried over October 1 arrests

Since October 1, some families in the English Speaking regions of Cameroon are yet to see their loved ones.

Picked up by forces of law and order, the whereabouts of some remain unknown.

In Njinikom in the North West region, some families know where their lived ones are, but can’t reach them.

“Please we need prayer because what is going on now in my own village is not normal. They have burnt houses in my place and have arrested many people…” A local tells us.

He adds that “…they are at the police station in Njinikom… There are many of them there…”

Ladies were also picked up, accused of aiding separatist fighters. Locals however refute the claim.

“…they arrested these my sisters and asked them to wear ‘amba clothes'” the native of Njinikom adds.

This is not the first time locals accuse soldiers of falsely accusing detainees of having links with separatist fighters.

A similar accusation was raised weeks back when soldiers arrested men believed to be farmers still in the North West region.
