Three men and a woman have been detained in a police station in Bagante, Nde Division in the West region of Cameroon for holding tracks that call for election boycott on February 9, 2020.
The detainees have been identified as Rosange Jimegni, Laurent Mbieunda, Jean Fonga and Jean Marie Kamtchoua.
A source in Bangate has confirmed to Mimi Mefo Info that the people were arrested by security forces around Gare Routiere in Bangate.
Earlier, Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration threatened severe administrative sanctions on anyone that will call for a boycott of the elections.
It should be noted that militants of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, CRM, political party of Prof. Maurice Kamto have been calling for a general boycott of the polls arguing that the security situation and poor electoral code does not guarantee free and fair elections.
