What appeared to be a routine beer delivery from Kumbo to Douala turned into a major drug bust at Ndamukong in Bamenda III Subdivision this week. The truck, stacked high with crates of beer, was intercepted by security forces under the command of Senior Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Mbock.

Following a tip-off, officers carried out a detailed search of the vehicle. However, hidden beneath the crates, they discovered 25 tightly packed bags of cannabis, weighing over 700 kilograms.

“This was not just a lucky catch. It was the result of solid intelligence and public collaboration,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Mbock . “The drugs were skillfully concealed, but our team was thorough.”

The driver and his assistant were immediately taken into custody. Authorities also suspect the truck was being used as part of a larger drug trafficking network that uses legitimate-looking cargo to move illegal substances across the regional borders.

Police officials have praised the vigilance of the local population, urging continued public cooperation to combat drug-related crime.
“This is one of the largest drug seizures we’ve made in recent years,” Mbock added. “Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin and destination of the drugs, and to dismantle the network behind it.”

The operation further highlights growing concerns about the use of commercial transport vehicles for trafficking illicit substances across the country.
