Belittled Anglophone laughs, questions Cameroon’s bilingualism

An Anglophone Cameroonian resident in Yaoundé, Center Region has made jest of the fact that Cameroon is necessarily refered to as a bilingual country.

He had come to the conclusion that the country will never be fully bilingual no matter what due to the attitude of the other counterparts, which he believes have spurred Anglophones to demand questions in the current union.

“I thought we were supposed to be a bilingual country? How then does someone refuse to sell to me because I am an Anglophone in Yaoundé?…” He asks.

“It happened at a shelf around Ecole des Postes. He blatantly refused selling his provisions to me because I spoke to him in English. He told me I could keep standing there and speaking a language that only me understood and then he went on serving others,” he continued.

“He also said in French that it is not obligatory for me to buy… I thought Cameroon is a country that speaks two languages but if someone can behave like this, then it is really funny,” he ended.
