Nigerian singer Asake has expressed his surprise at losing the BET Award for Best New International Act to Cameroonian singer Libianca. Asake, who was one of the favorites to win the award, said he was “quite surprised” by the outcome and that he had “worked so hard this year.”

“I have put up an incredible work this year. I am quite suprised Libianca won the award over me whereas back in her country Cameroon, it’s my songs they play back to back,” Asake said in a statement. “. I thought I had a good chance of winning. I worked so hard this year and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished.”

Asake’s rise to fame has been meteoric. He released his debut single, “Omo Ope,” in 2021 and it quickly became a hit. He has since released a string of successful singles, including “Organise ” and “Joha.” Asake’s music is a blend of Afrobeats, hip hop, and dancehall. He is known for his catchy melodies and energetic performances.

Libianca is also a rising star in the African music scene. She released her debut single , “People ,” in 2022 and it was a critical and commercial success. Libianca’s music is a blend of Afrobeats, pop, and R&B. She is known for her powerful vocals and her ability to connect with her audience.

The BET Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in the American music industry. They recognize the best African artists in a variety of categories, including music, film, and television. The awards are voted on by fans and industry insiders.

Asake’s loss to Libianca is a reminder that there is no shortage of talented African artists. It is also a reminder that the BET Awards are a competitive field. However, Asake’s fans can be confident that he will continue to make music and that he will continue to be a force in the African music scene.
