Following series of evictions, the nine remaining housemates of Cameroon’s talent-driven visual reality show, Biggy 237, are battling for the winner who bags home a cash prize of FCFA 10 million, a car and a free trip to Dubai.

Voting, which was done by viewers via SMS messages, ended at 10:30am this morning and the winner is to be revealed tonight as tension heightens among the nine housemates.

The four male and five female finalists earlier announced include Popsy, Vanithels, Victor, Blanche, Tjay, Branny, Nerisa and Claire.

A series of evictions kicked out some 16 housemates from the Biggy Mansion with just nine having to contest for this night’s finals.

The reality show, which started this August 2, was scheduled to start in January but the COVID-19 pandemic obstructed the schedule.

As preventive measure, selected housemates were quarantined for almost a month and screened of the Coronavirus and other deadly diseases before the start of the show.

Those who were eligible for a free application for Biggy237 first edition this year were at least 21 years old.
The event’s organisers say 853 Cameroonians from home and abroad applied and just 61 people were chosen for the first phase: 33 females and 28 males.
Phase 1 ended months back with 25 people qualifying for the second phase which is part of the first season of the show.

While in the Biggy Mansion, the housemates were expected to speak English (on Mondays and Saturdays) French (Tuesdays and Fridays), Pidgin (Wednesday), Camfranglais (Thursday), and English and French (Sunday).
“Biggy237 is a talent driven show which brings out creativity, innovation and showcase the talent of its contestants,” says organisers on the event’s website.

The show has faced some challenges especially as Cameroonians hardly promote their own, according to Founding Director, Fred Keyanti.
“This has not been an easy journey as Cameroonians don’t always believe in their own. Many first thought it was a scam,” he said to CRTV.
