Bike Riders Demand Justice After Officer Stabs Young Man in Bar Altercation

A group of bike riders in Bamenda are demanding justice after a young man was stabbed by a uniformed officer during a bar altercation. The incident, which took place at approximately 3 am this Thursday at a well-known drinking spot in Up Station Bamenda 1 subdivision, has generated strong public outcry and demands for immediate action.

Witnesses reported that the altercation started with a disagreement and quickly turned into a physical confrontation. Witnesses described the intense moments as the situation escalated, with the officer in uniform allegedly using a knife to stab the young man.

“We were just enjoying our evening when things took a turn for the worse,” stated one witness, who wished to remain anonymous. “The officer seemed to lose his temper and things got violent fast.”

The biking community, renowned for its strong sense of unity and friendship, has wasted no time in responding to the news. A group of bike riders took to the streets, blocking the road at up station, demanding accountability for the officer’s actions.

“He is our friend, and we stand together,” said one of the protesting bike riders. “This senseless violence is completely unacceptable in our community, and it is imperative that justice is served for this young man.”

There has been a growing demand for the officer to step down or be taken off active duty, as expressed by members of the biking community during their gatherings.

Instances of law enforcement officers abusing their office are unfortunately not uncommon. In 2020, a tragic incident occurred when a police officer pursued a vehicle that had evaded security control. Unfortunately, during the pursuit, a student on her way home from school in Nkwen was shot.

Such incidents have never been reported, as the relevant ministries have not publicly condemned such acts.
