BIR soldiers organise free health campaign in Nkambe

The Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR the military has organised a free health screening campaign in Nkambe, Donga Mantung division of the North West region.

At least 1500 persons are said to have benefitted from the campaign which spanned Thursday 6 to Saturday May 8.

According to Colonel François Relene, General Coordinator of the BIR, the patriotism and collaborative spirit of the people attracted the BIR to assist them.” The poeple of Donga Mantung are very patriotic. We have worked closely with them and we have realized that they have health problems…,” Colonel Relene stated.

The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO of Donga Mantun, Dr Doh Simon Nkwenti, the Mayor of NKambe, Musa Shey Nfor and a cross section of the population have saluted the measure.

“The gifts they have, they have brought to alievate our difficulties, we believe that they have brought life to us,” the SDO stated.

Besides free screening, there was the provision of two incubators which according the Director of the Nkambe District Hospital will be of great help. Such military community actions have been common since the escalation of the Anglophone crisis.
