Mbengwi:
Military kills woman, cousin, imprisons husband over alleged links with Amba fighters

By David Atangana

Authoritative sources in Zem village on the outskirts of Mbengwi, Momo division of the restive North West region have confirmed to MMI that soldiers have killed a woman and her cousin on claims of links with separatist fighters.

The woman was said to be in her 50s while the slain cousin was said to be aged 17. Meanwhile, the husband of the killed woman is said to be held incommunicado by security forces.

The incident occured May 4th, 2022. The incident was reported on this platform linking the deceased duo to separatist activities.

The woman was brandished by the military as lover to the 17-year-old boy alleged to have been a separatist fighter ambushed making love.

Contrary narratives have surfaced rubbishing the claims of the military.
“The military walked in and killed the 17-year-old boy who was in the sitting room”, a family source revealed to MMI.

Narrating further, the same source said “the deceased lady came out from her room with a nine-year-old to check what was happening and were taken into an amored car by the soldiers”.

While the woman was killed the 9-year old was spared
“The child was taken to a taxi, while the woman was brought back home, shot dead, cut into pieces and dumped on clothes and blanket packed”, the source said adding that “the child was then sent to inform the family that the mother is dead”.

Condemning the act perpetrated by soldiers, the source that opted for anonymity qualified the actions of soldiers as the worst form of barbarism and mayhem a people could ever be subjected to.

“This woman was not a lover of any Amba. She was in her 50s living with her 17-year-old cousin and another of about nine years”, the source emphasized.

Following the barbaric killing of the woman and her cousin, the military are reported to have threatened everyone not to take pictures of corps until she was buried.

At the time of this report, the husband of the deceased was reportedly held incommunicado by government forces.
