Bishop George Nkuo urges belligerent to drop arms, seek dialogue

The Bishop of the Diocese of Kumbo has called on all those carrying arms to drop their weapons and seek dialogue.

“Gunshots will not solve this problem. Only dialogue can solve it,” the Man of God urged.

The prelate made this call in a chat with CRTV North West Regional station Tuesday, May 11.

This followed his 40th anniversary in priesthood celebration which took place on Friday, May 7 amid gunshots.

The event that was attended by North West chieftain, Adolphe Lele l’Afrique on the campus of St Augustine College, Kumbo was marred by security threats from the separatist fighters targeting the governor’s convoy.

Governor Adolphe after holding a series of security meetings during his two-day stay in Kumbo has promised hard times for the fighters in Kumbo.

Plans are underway to cleanse and pacify Kumbo, the governor told CRTV North West.

Several locally made explosives were diffused by elements of the security forces on their trip journey to and from Kumbo.

One of the explosives planted in Kikaikelaki killed two fighters who were set to detonate it and kill soldiers and/or the governor.
