To him, the ongoing measures are effective in ending the armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions of the country.

President Biya, Ayang Luc said, welcomes the “… appropriate measures which augur a gradual return to peace and social cohesion”.

He also tackled the Boko Haram crisis in the Far North Region, stating that the fight against terrorism is achieving its aims. Thanks to the combined efforts of the defense and security forces of the various states in the sub-region, he said, terrorism has been brought under control in the Lake Chad area.

The recent outing of government has raised worries, coming at a time violence in the Anglophone regions is once more recording an increase.

Despite the institution of a special status for the Anglophone regions, gun battles continue to rain in some parts of the regions, as separatist fighters and government forces battle for control.

Residents of the Far North Region have also expressed fears over the increased attacks from the Boko Haram sect, calling on government to beef efforts for their security.
