The Senior Divisional Officer of Boyo in a latest statement, has banned community and clandestine schools from operating in his area of command.
Boyo is one of the Divisions in the conflict-hit North West Region of Cameroon.
In the document signed and issued on August 29, 2022, Teghi Fidele urged “Divisional Officers, Mayors, Traditional leaders, and heads of forces of law and order to implement the order.”
“Attempts to violate this order,” Teghi Fidele said would leave defaulters “prosecuted according to the rules and regulations in force.”
Community schools have been thriving in the Anglophone Regions since the ongoing crisis morphed into an armed conflict in 2017.
Many students and pupils and students have depended on these community schools to write official exams and stay within the four walls of the classroom.
With school resumption due in few days, many parents say the SDO’s move would have a huge setback on the future of their children.
