59-year-old Julius Maada Bio has been re-elected President of Sierra Leone under the Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
He emerged winner after securing 56% of the votes while his 72-year-old main rival, Samura Kamara secured 41% votes.
Firstly elected in 2018, Maada Bio will be sworn in his second five-year term soon.
His rival has however cried foul, as he has likened the elections to a “daylight robbery”.
Dr. Kamara had alleged that his party’s electoral agents were restricted from verifying the ballot counting.
The election it should be noted was the country’s fifth election since the end of the civil war ended in 2002.
