Ayah Ayah Abine, President of the Ayah Foundation and spokesperson of the Ayah family has been called for questioning at the National Gendarmerie Secretariat, SED in Yaounde.
While the reason for his questioning is still not known, it is highly probable that it is related to the ongoing Anglophone crisis in Cameroon’s North West and South West regions. Ayah Ayah Abine exclusively told Mimi Mefo Info minutes after he received the call summoning him, but said: “I wouldn’t want any media attention yet, unless I am still in SED one hour thirty minutes after my arrival”. He arrived SED this morning at 11:00 AM local time.
The Ayah Foundation has over the past weeks come under attacks from some pro-government individuals and former Ambazonian leaders accusing it of having links with Ambazonian fighters.
Weeks ago, Ayah Ayah had taken to social media stating that the government was hatching plans to either arrest or eliminate him.
The Ayah Foundation is one of Cameroon’s renowned humanitarian organisation born in the wake of the armed conflict in the country’s English-speaking regions. The group has paid several visits to refugee camps in Nigeria where fleeing Anglophones are seeking refuge.
