Kondengui Prison
Heavy gunshots have been reported around the Kondengui Prison in Yaounde, Centre region of Cameroon.
Preliminary reports reaching MMI indicate that a breakout by prisoners was attempted. An evasion attempt is suspected.
Kondengui prison is the location where many high-profile political prisoners, including former ministers, Secretary General at the Presidency, and Separatist leaders are being held.
It is not yet clear who was involved in the gunshots.
