President Paul Biya of Cameroon has this evening signed an executive order, to pardon the incarcerated former general manager of the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV).
Gervais Mendoze was arrested in November 2014 after he was sacked from the cabinet as Minister Delegate to the Minister of Communication.
Mendoze was in March 2019 sentenced to 20 years in jail for corruption among other charges.
Pictures showing his deteriorating health condition have been circulating on social media.
He has ordered his evacuation for treatment abroad, reports say.
Could have pressured the regime to release him?
