Breaking: Plain-clothes Officer reportedly Shot in Bamenda

Armed men whose identities have not been revealed by witnesses have shot a security officer in Ntamulung Junction in Bamenda II, North West Region of Cameroon. The identity of the victim has not yet been made public, but our sources said he was an officer “wearing plain clothes.”

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, August 31, 2023.

The Army Rescue Unit transported the victim to a health center.

Some sources say the officer died on the spot, while others say he is responding to treatment in the hospital.

“Shop owners are already closing their shops for fear of the unknown,” said our correspondent in Bamenda.

“Young people, especially males, are relocating to other areas given that whenever such incidents occur, young people are the targets,” added our reporter.

Gunshots were also heard around New Layout early in the morning.

MMI is still investigating this story!
